Following is the Believer’s Covenant for First Church of God...Center
of Hope members.
Believing that you have received Christ as your Lord and Savior and
that you have been led by the Lord to become a member of First Church
of God, you freely accept and commit yourself to the following Covenant
between God, yourself, and His Church.
I shall live according to the New Testament teachings on faith in
Christ, love for God, and obedience to the Holy Spirit that are expounded
in this church.
I shall live a spirit-filled and spirit-led life of practical and
daily holiness, so that no reproach is brought upon the family of
God, and so that others may see my Godly life and glorify our Lord
Jesus Christ.
I do believe in and accept as Biblical practice for all Christians,
baptism by immersion on the authority of Jesus Christ in the name
of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost; regular participation in Holy Communion,
and observance of Foot Washing.
I shall be faithful in attendance at worship, supportive of the spiritual
leadership of the church and consistent in giving of the Lord’s
tithes and my offerings to the work of the church.
I shall gladly engage in the work of the church, according to my spiritual
gifts and the will of my brothers and sisters. I shall faithfully
serve in elected or assigned positions and take whatever training
or instruction necessary to do my duties well.
I will love the other members of the church, seek to edify and strengthen
them and refuse to negate in gossip, backbiting, or any other unchristian
treatment of them.
I shall refrain from all sexual immorality and the use of tobacco,
all intoxicating beverages and illicit drugs, since my body is the
temple of the Holy Spirit.
I shall participate in holy activities that strengthen my spiritual
character such as regular prayer, Bible reading, quiet times with
the Lord, fasting, the reading of good books and witnessing for Jesus
Christ as He presents opportunity.
I shall pray for the other members of the body of Christ, show love
and concern for them I shall be willing to help them in times of stress,
sorrow, suffering and spiritual need.
If it becomes necessary to terminate my membership here for any reason,
I shall inform the Pastor and seek to unite with another evangelical,
spirit-filled church wherever I may go.
